So why will I walk 80k in July? Well, I have signed up on Facebook to walk 80k in July in aid of Women’s Aid.
I first heard about Women’s Aid Ireland when my own marriage was falling apart it is an amazing organisation that helps so many women and children in need.
Who are Women’s Aid
Women’s Aid is a leading national organisation that has been working in Ireland to stop domestic violence against women and children since 1974.
They work to make women and children safe from domestic violence, offer support, provide hope to women affected by abuse and work for justice and social change. Over the course of 40 years the organisation has built up a huge body of experience and expertise on the issue, enabling them to best support women and children and share this knowledge with other agencies responding to women experiencing domestic violence.
So I signed up and made my page I am delighted to say that so far I have raised €421 so far – considering the aim was €200 I am thrilled to be honest.
Want to join me in supporting a good cause? You can find my fundraising page here – https://www.facebook.com/donate/604135630202382/10158476120559485/
All money raised will go towards funding the help line and the help centers around Ireland, helping Women and Children escape from dire situations and domestic abuse.
Where I will walk 8ok in July
As you know I live in a country town and we are so lucky to have some beautiful walks within the location. As COVID19 is still an issue I am walking within walking distance of my home.
The dog and I have mapped out our walk and I checked the time and the distance to make sure and I know we will be able to make our goal if we try and walk 4 days a week.
I will be sharing our walks on our fundraising Page and keeping everyone updated on our progress.
One in five women experience some form of domestic abuse in Ireland and Women’s Aid is here to listen, believe and support women every day on the 24hr National Freephone Helpline 1800 341 900 and through their one to one support services. For more information on all the services Women’s Aid provide and on their work to end domestic violence in Ireland visit www.womensaid.ie.
I would be delighted if you could sponsor me but if you want to do the walk yourself and want to support a great cause there is still time to sign up – and join in the Walk 8okm in July.
