I have been Meal Planning for years but many people wonder how I meal plan on the 5:2 diet. If you have no clue what the 5:2 diet is you can read all about my journey on it here – Why I swear by the 5:2 Diet. But how do I meal plan and still feed my family without them having to do the diet too?
So Why do I still Meal Plan on the 5:2 Diet
- It saves money – I head to the supermarket with a plan and a list and don’t over-spend. Unless there is a sale on Plants but that is another story!!
- I never have to think about dinner when I come in stressed from work – I know what I am doing and have the ingredients to do it.
- We eat healthier and eat less take-out which on the 5:2 is vital
- It takes me only 10-15 mins with a cup of tea. Okay blogging about it takes longer but I do this to help others.
- And know exactly what I am spending each week on Food
The great thing about meal planning is that if you take 10 -15 minutes to plan for the week ahead you will ultimately save you time, save you money and you will end up eating healthier. So follow my Meal Plan on the 5:2 Diet Menu today.

Meal Planning Menu – recipes
Monday is usually one of my fast days so for lunch I have a low-calorie soup like – Low-calorie Broccoli and Fennel. And for dinner, I will have Lentil Curry and Cauliflower rice. The others usually have Curry but with Rice and Naan Bread as they are not on a diet.
Tip: Just because you are eating 5:2 doesn’t mean your family have to be adapt dinners with Cauliflower rice to keep the calories down or add extra sides to the family meal.
Tip: Slowcooker meals are great for busy families especially in you invest in a timer socket.
Wednesday is always Pizza night for my daughter but it is also 5:2 night for me and I love this Chinese Prawn and Cauli rice. It is so quick to make and sometimes my daughter will have some with noodles as she likes it.
Tip – If you are eating healthy let the kid have their junk food night if they want or sometimes they make want what you’re having !!
On a cold day, the slow-cooker is great and this Amazing Slow Cooker Catalan Beef Casserole will make warm you up.
Tip: If you can’t get Steak pieces cheaply Lidl has plain beef stir-fry which is 1.99 this week and is great as a substitute.
Turkey pieces are healthy and cheap meat options and this Gluten-free Turkey and Broccoli Pasta bake is a tasty way of using them.
Tip: Always check out the special offers in your supermarket to keep costs down
Saturday is the perfect time for a Fake-away like Beef Dopiaza – easy to make and saves you from reaching for that takeaway menu. Which is your favourite take away food?
TIP: There are lots of fake-away recipes to help you out there
Sunday is a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and for dessert, as I am being good I will have the Raspberry nice cream I shared in my newsletter
Tip: Check which fruits are on Special offer and base desserts around them or in my case use up all the raspberries filling my freezer from the Garden
